BLOCK PARTY 2019: David Cragg

ABOUT

David Cragg's mural for BLOCK PARTY 2019 provides an opportunity for reflection and exploration into the effects humans have on Country. Contrasting a sweeping landscape of Australian bush with varied industrial elements, Cragg places himself into the role of a reconnoitre, overlooking the humanistic impact on the dwindling fringes of native flora and fauna. Local native flora and native pollinators are featured throughout the work.

David Cragg is multidisciplinary artist of Irish, Scottish and Bundjalung ancestry, working in Dharawhal Country (Illawarra Region of NSW, Australia) He is a muralist, fine artist, designer, writer, builder, sculptor, photographer and youth/ disability community worker. He has exhibited work, painted large scale murals, curated public art installations, performed live art, and delivered art-making workshops and mentorship across Australia.

Clients and Collaborations include City of Sydney, Brookfield, Barangaroo, Ambush Gallery, Westfield, GPT Group, Wollongong Central, ACT City Services, Darling Quarter, Wiltshire and Dimas, HiPages, Liberty Place and The Wintergarden.
